He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Pauline, married on May 13, 1967 in Biddeford; two sons, Michael Simoneau and his wife, Ana, and daughter Sarah of Clermont, Florida and Gary Simoneau and his wife, Sherrie, of Buxton; a brother, Raymond Simoneau, and his wife, Sheila, of Buxton and several nieces and nephews, who he loved spending time with during his summers in Maine.
He endlessly adored and cherished his feline companion of 16 years, Tiger.
He graduated from St. Louis High School and went on to work at Honeycomb Systems and later the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years as a machinist. He served his country in the United States Army and retired from the Maine Army National Guard in 1998.
Normand enjoyed his winters in Florida spending time with Paul and Jacqueline Souliere, his sister-in-law and her husband. He and Paul would watch football and NASCAR on Sunday while their wives used that time together shopping. He was a Boston Red Sox and New York Giants fan. He also enjoyed spending most of his time with his wife, Pauline, and their daily trips to Walmart.
There will be no services at this time. A graveside memorial will be later, in the spring of 2017, at St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford for close family and friends.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
