BRUNSWICK — Irene Bergeron Hutchison, age 84 passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at the Garden, surrounded by her family.

Irene was born in Brunswick, Maine, on February 27, 1933, the daughter of Augustin and Pamela Bois Bergeron. She married Euray Bertram Hutchison on February 7, 1953, and during his 20-year career in the Air Force, they were stationed in Utah, Illinois, Casablanca, Morocco, New Mexico, The Philippines, and Biloxi, Mississippi. They returned to Brunswick in 1969, and Irene worked at Health Tex for several years. She and Euray lived in Arizona for 18 years after his retirement from Bath Iron Works but returned “home” to Brunswick in 2012. She was a member of All Saints Parish.

Irene was a devoted “Memere” to her seven grandchildren. Growing up, they all fondly remember the countless hours she spent playing cards and board games with them. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, reading, playing cards with friends, and sewing. She loved to collect crystal figurines and bells.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Euray Hutchison of Brunswick, sons Mark Hutchison and his wife Susan of Phippsburg, Brian Hutchison and his wife Kay of Argo, Alabama, daughter Pamela Murtha and her husband Tom of Gansevoort, New York, brothers Augustin (Gus) and Pearl Bergeron, Raymond and Patricia Bergeron, and her sister Cecile and Wilfred Baxter, all of Brunswick, as well as seven grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. Irene is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Alcide, Henri, Gerard, Robert, Conrad, Alfred (Pete) Bergeron, sisters Clemence (Mortimer), Berthe (Labbe), Grace (Allard), Florence (Cloutier), and Pauline (Saucier).

Visiting hours will be held Monday, June 5th from 4-6 PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 6th at 11 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church- All Saints Parish 132 McKeen St. Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mid Coast-Parkview Health, The Garden Memory Care Community, 123 Medical Center Dr., Brunswick, Maine 04011. The family wishes to thank the staff of The Garden for helping Irene throughout these past 11 months.
