WEST BATH

Authorities are searching for a 70-yearold West Bath man.

According to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Office, Edward “Ted” Berrett, 70, who lives along on Beaver Brook Road in West Bath, not been heard from since Friday and had failed to attend several appointments.

During a welfare check Sunday, deputies found Berrett’s home was open and all the lights on.

Berrett was last been seen at approximately 7 p.m. Friday, a short distance from his residence. .

According to the Maine Warden Service, Berrett is 6-foot, 1-inch tall, weighs 190 pounds, has blue eyes and blonde/white hair. He was last known to be wearing khaki colored pants. It is possible that Berrett was not wearing a shirt or jacket according to reports.

Sagadahoc County deputies, along with members of the Maine Warden Service, began conducting an investigation and a search of the area Sunday. K-9 teams were called in from local law enforcement, as well as Maine Search and Rescue.

The Maine Warden Service is coordinating the search, which was suspended Sunday evening and was expected to resume at around 7:30 a.m. today.

“We are very concerned for the well being of Mr. Berrett,” said Sagadahoc County Sheriff Joel Merry. “While there is nothing suspicious, we are worried about his lack of contact with family and friends at this time.”

Merry asked that everyone be observant.
