This week’s column is dedicated to all you love sick puppies out there.
For those of you unaware, it’s cuffing season.
Cuffing season is when people whom would rather be single, actually desire to be tied down in a serious relationship. The cold weather and consistent indoor activity supposedly allows single people to feel lonely and yearn to be in a relationship. Hence, cuffing season is said to be during the fall and winter months.
Personally, I have been influenced by the torturous wrath of this year’s cuffing season.
Seeing all the couples making gingerbread houses and ice skating together has made me particularly vulnerable this season, for I have been saddened by my lack of a relationship.
Frankly, it is utterly an annoyance factor and I highly recommend staying away from the romantic movies and third wheeling around this time of year. Take caution to this because you may be consumed by the wrath of cuffing season by doing this.
My close peers and family know me well enough that I am not one to be interested in the whole dating scheme. I have always been focused on excelling in school and extracurriculars rather than the romance world. However, I am also a girl. A teenage girl with many…many…feelings.
Oh, what a joy to be a teenager!
It is with high hopes, anyone who reads this column and was or is currently a teenager knows exactly what I am talking about when I have to discreetly mention what happens to your body and emotions as you mature.
Mature… what a funny word to use for describing a growing teenage body when you are still perceived to be immature.
Remember those good ol’ days?
To those of you who are currently single and yearning for a relationship:
Do not be consumed by your loneliness, especially during the holiday season.
Who needs a significant other when you can have a perfectly delicious pint of Ben & Jerry’s all to yourself.
Not to mention, you also don’t have to worry about trying to find the perfect gift for that special someone.
Finally, you don’t have to share your bed with anyone.
It is for these reasons, I urge you singles to stay single when you burst with desire to be cuffed.
Trust me.
You’ll thank me later.
As for those of you who are tied down, I hope these winter months are filled with joy and love from your significant other.
Just don’t forget to hang up the mistletoe!
With that, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
