TOPSHAM — Elizabeth Ibsen Thompson, 93, of Hamden, CT and most recently of Topsham, ME passed away at home in Topsham on December 31, 2017.

She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Thomas M. Thompson, in 2015. Betty was the loving mother of David I. Thompson of Hamden, Beth Thompson (Leonard Westra) of Brunswick, ME, and Jean (James) Fantarella of Hamden, grandmother of Jay (Lauren) Westra, Kyle Thompson-Westra (Amanda Jichlinski), Johanna Thompson-Westra, David Fantarella, and Diane Fantarella and great-grandmother to Caleb Westra. She is survived by her brother John (Nancy) Ibsen, brother Cliff (Sharon) Ibsen, sister-in-law Ruth Ibsen, brother-in-law Clayton Hayden, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and their spouses. She was predeceased by her sisters Doris Bates and Lorraine Hayden, and her brother Donald Ibsen.

Elizabeth was born in North Haven, CT, on May 27, 1924, the daughter of John and Johanna Ibsen.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Glen Terrace Nurseries and the Berner Lohne Company. She lived all of her married life in Hamden with Tom and enjoyed hosting and celebrating countless family, friend and church events at their home on Brook Street.

She was a lifelong and active member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Woodbridge, CT and of the New Haven Wives of Rotarians. She volunteered at church and in the community, hosted a neighborhood bible study for many years, and lived a life full of gratitude and love.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 27, 12:00 PM at the Trinity Church, 33 Center Rd. Woodbridge. Interment will be private.
