Patten Library offers Kindle Fire workshop
BATH — On Friday, March 30, Patten Free Library will provide a free presentation on how to use the Cloud Library app and borrow digital books and audiobooks on Kindle Fire devices. Roberta Jordan, an instruction and outreach librarian at Patten, will lead the workshop, which will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Library’s second floor Community Room.
“We have offered many classes for iPad owners,” said Jordan. “But Kindle Fire owners can also use the Cloud Library app on their devices to borrow books. I will run the workshop in a similar way to the iPad workshops, connecting a Kindle Fire to a projector so that participants can watch, learn, and follow what is happening on-screen.”
Registrants should bring their own Kindle Fire — at least a second generation Fire is required. They should also make sure that they have a current Library card, and that they know their Amazon account login and password. If possible, participants should try to install the Cloud Library app on their Fire prior to the workshop.
Pre-registration is encouraged but not required. Register or get more information by calling Jordan at (207) 443-5141 ext. 25 or email [email protected].

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
