Brunswick — Ralph L. Bernier age 86 of Greenleaf Street died on Friday, December 21st at his home.  He was born in Brunswick on March 9, 1932 the son of Simeon and Anna Cloutier Bernier. He attended St. John’s Parochial School and was a 1950 graduate of Brunswick High School.

During the Korean War he served his country as a Medic in the Navy.

On June 27, 1959 he married Theresa L. Karkos.

He stared working at The Brunswick Record as a newspaper apprentice on the G.I. Plan and continued as Production Supervisor of the Commercial Printing Department of The Times Record for twenty-three years. Ralph also worked in the Commercial Printing Department of the Kennebec Journal and as a printing estimator for J.C. McCarthy Printing in Augusta until his retirement in 1997.

Ralph was a communicant of St. John’s the Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Smith-Tobey Post of the American Legion and a member of the Bath Elks Lodge.

Surviving besides his wife of 59 years, Theresa Karkos Bernier of Brunswick is a daughter, Linda A. Remington of Oklahoma and a son, Ronald R. Bernier of Boston, a sister, Rita Bernier of Brunswick; a granddaughter, Amy Lynn Remington of Oklahoma. He is also survived by a niece and several nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Garrett Lee Remington; sisters, Simone Bernier, Anne Marie Pelletier and a brother, Raymond (Sam) Bernier. Two brother-in-law’s, Remy Bernier and Ralph Pelletier.

At his request there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 28th at 9 AM at St. John’s the Baptist Church- All Saints Parish 39 Pleasant St. Brunswick with a reception to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Church Parish Hall 132 McKeen St. Brunswick.  Spring interment will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
