Topsham – Roger L. Flaig age 68 of River Road died Tuesday January 8, 2019 at Marshwood

Center in Lewiston after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Brunswick on January 19 1950 the son of Peter and Jeanne Trank Flaig. Roger attended Topsham & Brunswick schools and was a1968 graduate of Brunswick High School.

On February 20, 1976 he married his soul mate Sally Jean Fairhurst. She died December 13, 2013.

Roger worked at Bath Iron Works as a Machinist for 36 years, retiring in 2012. In addition to his role building ships, he built many long-term relationships with coworkers and was well respected among his peers at the yard.

Roger was a family man and enjoyed spending quality time with his sons, wife, and immediate family. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler around the “farm”, visiting his brothers, and deer hunting.  In his younger years, he enjoyed motorcycle riding with a close group of friends from the “old days”.

Most will remember Roger’s quick wit and one liners that made everyone laugh. He always had a great idea to share.

The family would like to thank Joe Obrin for being such a great friend to Roger.

He was a member of the Brunswick Elks Lodge.

Surviving is a son Justin L. Flaig of Norway and son Timothy P. Flaig of Topsham. Three brothers Donald P Flaig and wife Judy, Daniel J Flaig and wife Debbie and Randall W. Flaig all of Topsham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by an infant son Roger, Jr. who died in 1976.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 16th at 1 PM at Stetson’s Funeral Home 12 Federal St. Brunswick where a video tribute may be viewed and memorial condolences may be expressed at stetsonsfuneralhome.com  Memorial donations may be made to the Coastal Humane Society, 190 Pleasant Street, Brunswick, Maine 04011.
