GORHAM – Sally Jordan, 82, of Gorham passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on Thursday April 29, 2021 at Maine Medical Center, with her children at her side. She was born Feb. 19, 1939 in Augusta.

She grew up in Readfield and attended Kents Hill School, graduating valedictorian in ’56, and earned her nursing certificate at Deaconess in Boston. She met her husband, Richard Jordan, while he was serving in the military, and they raised a family while travelling throughout Germany, Belgium, and New York City, eventually returning to Maine. She worked in the nursing profession and as a substance abuse counselor for women. After her divorce, she met Joe Alduino, and they were partners until his death.

Sally enjoyed walking, cross-country skiing, and spending time in nature. She supported the Animal Refuge League, Maine Audubon, Portland Museum of Art, and various environmental and humanitarian projects worldwide. She had a love for the arts, and enjoyed operas at the Met, art festivals, musical theater, and concerts, ushering for the PSO for many years. What she liked most about these events was sharing them with her friends and family. She was an avid reader, a jewelry artisan, and a lover of animals – especially her beloved dog Clara and cat Cuddles. She was a wonderful mother and friend – a loving, gentle, sensitive, and empathic person who was always available to listen and help others.

Sally was predeceased by her sister, Susan Mae Cartlidge; and her parents, Winfield and Helen Cartlidge. She is survived by her daughter Debbie Hejduk and husband John, son Jeff Jordan and wife Christine; granddaughters Aimee Nelson and husband Josh, and Becky Orsulic, grandsons Nathaniel Jordan and Abraham Jordan; great-grandchildren Alissa and Trevor Orsulic, Drake, Taylor, and Zach; and great-great grandchildren Raelyn and Kennedi.

A small private interment ceremony will take place later in the year.
