Treating stigma with compassion
Stigma is the No. 1 reason people with mental illnesses and addiction issues don’t seek help. Windham’s Be the Influence program will address this sensitive subject at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Windham High School Auditorium with a presentation of the 30-minute documentary “Compassion Cures: Building Hope by Overcoming Stigma.” Resources also will be provided on how to help people suffering by using compassion as a tool.

In addition, Maine Opioid Response Director Gordon Smith and other experts from around the state, including those representing Northern Light health care, Tri-County Behavioral Health and the Portland Recovery Community Center, will be present for a panel discussion.

Age Friendly musical Eastertime lunch
Adults ages 55 and older are invited to attend a lunchtime Easter holiday concert with Ron Bergeron on Friday, April 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Windham Town Hall Gym at 8 School Road.
Enjoy a holiday meal provided by Starlite Catering while listening to Bergeron performing some favorite songs. Attendees will also be able to meet members of the Age Friendly Windham committee and learn how to get involved in helping to make Windham a great place to live for people of all ages. Carol Noonan in concert
Windham seniors 55 and older are invited to a spring concert by Maine musician Carol Noonan on April 13 at the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield. Transportation is provided by the Windham Parks and Recreation bus, leaving the Town Hall parking lot at 10 a.m. There, guests will eat lunch while Carol sings some of her classic songs. The cost for both the concert and meal is $59. The bus will return to Town Hall at 2 p.m. Make a reservation soon by calling Windham Parks and Recreation at 892-1905.
Alcoholics Anonymous meeting
Every Tuesday from 7:30-8:30 p.m., support group Alcoholics Anonymous meets at the South Windham Community Church, 31 Main St., in South Windham. For more information, call 749-3313.
