David Eric Mason
PORTLAND – David Eric Mason, 74, Portland, Maine, formerly of Manchester, NH, passed away on Dec. 5, 2025 surrounded by those who loved him. Born on July 11, 1951, David lived a life defined by hard work, humor, and an unwavering belief in equality and democracy.
A gifted mason by trade and by heart, David took a deep pride in his craft. His beautiful stonework can be found throughout Maine and across New England, each a project a lasting testament to his skill, creativity, and a joy in the work he loved. One of his most recent and cherished accomplishments was contributing to the stone boardwalk at York Beach, where his hands shaped a place countless families will enjoy for generations.
David approached life with a gentleness and a never ending supply of dad jokes. He made both work and living fun, lifting the spirits of everyone around him. His values ran deep of fairness, kindness and the belief that peace deserves a chance.
He was predeceased by his mother Joan Mason, father Richard Mason; sister Pamela Mason; and his beloved son, David Earl Mason. He is survived by his wife, Anne Collette, his children Douglas Mason, Eric Mason; and Caitlin Coppenrath; his grandchildren Colby, Ryan, Parker, and Hazel; and his four loyal dogs who were his constant companions.
The family will be hosting a private celebration of life at a later date.
In the words of John Lennon, “Imagine Peace,” a sentiment that reflected the way David hoped the world could be.
