Scarborough voters approve $78M school budget

The total school and municipal budget will result in a tax increase of 3.2%.

About 81% of voters supported the proposal, which will cut staffing, give staff raises and grow funding for special education.

The teachers union initially opposed the budget, but reversed course last week when the district committed to adding back several ed tech positions.

The school budget proposal is 4.89% higher than last year’s and will raise property taxes for the owner of a median home by about $120 a year.

Voters also chose 7 members of the new Charter Review Commission and picked a Democratic nominee for the York County Commissioners.
