Ian Lawrence paced Yarmouth with 20 points as the Clippers earned a 65-56 win over Cape Elizabeth in a Class B South boys basketball game Friday in Cape Elizabeth.
Adam Maxwell added 12 points, and brothers Evan and Owen Oranellas each scored 10 for Yarmouth (5-3).
Owen Beaureguard made five 3-pointers and finished with 22 points for the Capers (2-6), who got as close as five points in the fourth quarter. Yarmouth secured the win by making 8 of 9 free throws in the fourth.
FALMOUTH 56, BIDDEFORD 37: Dominic Hau scored 23 points to lead the Navigators (3-5) past the Tigers (1-7) in Biddeford.
Connor Gooch and Nevyn Nielsen both added 11 points. Ben Robbins had 10 assists.
Julius Searles scored 10 points for Biddeford.
OAK HILL 58, SACOPEE VALLEY 46: Braden New scored 22 points, and the Raiders (3-4) fought off a second-half comeback by the Hawks (6-2) in Hiram.
Oak Hill led 32-19 at halftime, but Sacopee went on a 12-0 run in the third quarter. The Raiders regained control, however, and pulled away in the fourth.
PJ Smith contributed 13 points for Oak Hill, and Keeghan Morrissette sank four 3-pointers for 12 points.
Cooper Berkowitz led the Hawks with 16 points. Payton Young finished with four 3-pointers and 14 points.
WELLS 55, WINTHROP 39: Kevin Bolduc scored 18 points as the Warriors (3-4) beat the Ramblers (3-5) in Winthrop.
Aiden Collins added 12 points.
Graham Huri led Winthrop with 17 points.
THORNTON ACADEMY 64, DEERING 31: De’Shaun Alston led a balanced offense with 11 points as the Golden Trojans (7-1) defeated the Rams (1-7) in Portland.
John Darigan added 10 points, Simon Gellis had nine and Brayden Hoope scored eight.
Michel Butera accounted for the bulk of Deering’s offense with 18 points.
KENNEBUNK 66, GORHAM 53: Jaiden Homa, Dylan Myhal and Sawyer Pow combined for 45 points, leading Kennebunk (5-2) to a win on its home court.
Homa finished with 17 points, Myhal had 16 and Pow scored 15.
Preston Brown sank five 3-pointers in a 22-point outing for Gorham (3-5). Andrew Migliorini also reached double figures with 11 points.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 72, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 43: The Patriots (3-5) jumped out to a 31-point halftime lead and cruised to a win over the Raiders (0-7) in Fryeburg.
Kaleb D’Andrea scored 17 points, while Carter Corson and Quentin Warrick each had 14.
Nolan Harper tallied 11 for points for Fryeburg.
YORK 63, EDWARD LITTLE 48: Reese MacDonald scored 19 points as the Class B Wildcats (8-0) beat the Class A Red Eddies (6-3) in Auburn.
Henry Mirck added 16 points.
Akol Maiwen scored 25 points for Edward Little.
GARDINER 56, LINCOLN ACADEMY 55: Trace Moody scored 25 points, and the Tigers (6-1) edged the Eagles (2-5) in Newcastle.
Aidyn Herring put in 17 points and Michael Mitchell had 15 for Lincoln, which nearly overcame a 43-36 deficit entering the fourth quarter.
LEAVITT 78, POLAND 75: Trent Holst scored six of his 12 points in the third overtime to lift the Hornets (5-3) past the Knights (5-3) in Turner.
Colin Schlobohm recorded 27 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for Leavitt. Jacob Gibbs added 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, and Holst grabbed eight rebounds.
Damon Martin led Poland with 24 points. Jacob Jamo added 22, Nicholas Jamo had 13 and Alex Mains 12.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 81, LAWRENCE 48: Micah Fagonde scored a season-high 25 points, including six 3-pointers (6-1), as the Panthers rolled past the Bulldogs (1-6) in Waldoboro.
Mason Nguyen added 22 points. Kollin Donlin had 13 rebounds and seven assists.
Keegan Littlefield led Lawrence with 13 points. Miles Provost scored 11 off the bench.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
THORNTON ACADEMY 57, DEERING 25: Sienna Eldred scored 30 points, and the Trojans (4-4) beat the Rams (3-5) in Saco.
Brooke Bodnar added 13 points.
Payton Legassey had eight points for Deering.
EDWARD LITTLE 52, YORK 42: Elizabeth Galway scored 14 points, Charlotte Ranger added 11, and the Red Eddies (8-1) held off the Wildcats (4-4) in York.
Nya Avery led York with 15 points.
WELLS 64, WINTHROP 20: The Warriors (5-2) opened the game with a 25-0 run against the Ramblers (5-2) in Wells.
Megyn Mertens led the Warriors with 21 points. Payton Fazzina and Eva Talevi each added 12. Fazzina also had eight assists and seven steals.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 32, TRAIP ACADEMY 27: The Falcons (1-5) closed with a 17-6 advantage in the fourth quarter to overtake the Rangers (2-5) in Rumford.
Madison Blanchard paced Mountain Valley with 11 points.
Avery Bouffard led Traip with eight points.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 72, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 18: Bryn Gilmore scored 21 points, Abby Steele added 10, and the Patriots (8-0) handled the Raiders (0-7) in Gray.
Gilmore scored 16 in the first half to help the Patriots build a 44-10 lead.
Emma Hamilton, Ella Kenney and Ivy Ouellete each chipped in with eight points.
Presli Knapp led Fryeburg with eight points.
GORHAM 53, KENNEBUNK 51: Lauren Dunbar scored seven of her 15 points in the fourth quarter, and Gorham (5-3) made 9 of 12 free throws in the final eight minutes to hold off visiting Kennebunk (2-5).
Gorham also got 13 points from Logan Doughty.
Kendall Therrien scored 19 points and Riley Ewing had 17 for Kennebunk.
LAWRENCE 65, MEDOMAK VALLEY 44: Maddie Provost made seven 3-pointers and finished with 37 points to lead the Bulldogs (6-1) past the Panthers (2-5) in Fairfield.
Ashley Shores chipped in with 15 points.
Chloe Fox had 21 points and Anna Reed scored 10 for Medomak Valley.
YARMOUTH 21, CAPE ELIZABETH 20: Rory Tompkins scored seven points as the Clippers (3-5) edged the Capers (3-5) in Yarmouth.
Sadie Raffaele led the Capers with five points.
BOYS HOCKEY
PLOG 7, BRUNSWICK/FREEPORT 4: Poland/Leavitt/Gray-NG/Oak Hill (5-1-1) broke open a tie game by scoring four times in the third period to beat Brunswick/Freeport (2-2) at Sid Watson Arena in Brunswick.
Tyler Mates led the Kings with four goals and an assist. Jaxson Booker tallied a goal and four assists, while Luke Lombardi notched a goal and two assists. Charlie Boles also scored.
Ethan Patterson, Cole Bowdich, Nat Rathbone and Samuel Jansson scored for the Dragons.
Logan Rousseau earned the win by making 18 saves. Brunswick/Freeport goalie Michael Shoemaker stopped 30 shots.
CAMDEN HILLS 11, OLD TOWN/ORONO 0: Bowdoin Trzaska scored four times and added an assist for the Windjammers (3-3) in a victory over the Black Bears (0-7) at Alfond Arena in Orono.
Blake Christie recorded a goal and four assists. Joshua Hutchings, Tyler Dorr and Jacob Talbot each had a goal and two assists, Bryson Hise added a goal and an assist, and Jack Christie and Landon Hotchkin scored.
Quinn Hoppin stopped 13 shots for the shutout.
