SOUTH PORTLAND – Mark Ray Holt, 94, of South Portland, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife and children, on Dec. 31, 2025.

Mark was born on March 13, 1931, in Rockland, to the late Otis and Grace (Tripp) Holt. After graduating from Rockland High School, Mark enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Second Infantry Division during the Korean War. Mark later served in the Army Reserves retiring as a master sergeant.

Mark married Gloria Monahan in 1955 and together celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past October 2025. Mark resided in Portland, working several years as a Portland Fire Fighter and then as a City Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service retiring in 1991. After retirement, Mark and Gloria resided in Nalcrest, Fla. before returning to Maine in 2021.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Margaret Smith, Connie Lark, Priscilla Vance, and Rachel Deel; daughter-in-law, Margaret Holt.

Mark is survived by his wife, Gloria Holt of South Portland; daughter, Kim Bosse (Pierre) of Lewiston, sons David Holt of Scarborough, and Shawn Holt (Lisa) of South Portland; five grandchildren, Jessica Holt and fiancé Darrell Parker, Matthew Holt (Haley), Christine Michaud (Garrett), John Bosse (Ybeth), and Preston Holt; 10 great-grandchildren, Alicia, Elena, Nadia, Wesley, Marshall, Lawrence, Garrison, Marguerite, Christopher, and Geraldo; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Southern Maine Hospice for their care and compassion.

At Mark’s request there will be no memorial services.
