Andre Germain Chabot
SACO – Andre Germain Chabot, 94, passed away peacefully on Jan. 19, 2026. The eldest son of Antonio Chabot and Lumina (Richard) Chabot, he and his siblings Lorraine (Doyle), Richard, Roland, and Paul were raised in Sanford.
Andy graduated from Sanford High School in 1949, then earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1953. He served with the United States Army Color Guard in Washington, D.C. Returning to Sanford, he worked alongside his father, then helmed the family milk processing and delivery business.
Andy exemplified generous devotion to his community and neighbors, holding key roles in numerous organizations including Chairman of the Board of H.D. Goodall Hospital, Sanford Institution for Savings, the Elks Club, Sanford High School Athletic Booster Club, and many more. In the 1970s, he established the Stop and Go franchise with stores stretching across central and southern Maine. Later, he served as the Portland Press Herald Circulation Area Manager where he mentored many, demonstrating a work ethic based in fairness and fortitude.
Andy leaves his dearest treasures – his children and grandchildren. He performed in this family role with unwavering dedication and a deep sense of pride. He was an enthusiastic babysitter in the grandchildren’s early years, and he enjoyed meals together and skiing with family well into his eighties. In warm weather, he joined friends bicycling along the coast and hiking Maine and New Hampshire mountains.
He is survived by his four children, Martin, David (and Kathy Ivey), Anne (and Matthew Biette), and Peter (and Linda [Muldoon] Chabot); his grandchildren, Elise and Ryan Biette, and Jessica, Jordan, and Ariana Chabot; former wife Jeanne Marquis; and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Andy’s life will take place at a later date.
