Sidney “Sid” John Shaw Jr.
BOWDOINHAM – Sidney J. Shaw, Jr., 82, peacefully passed way at his home in Bowdoinham on Jan. 9, 2026, with his loving wife, Patricia, at his side.
Sid was born March 22, 1943, in Lynn, Mass., to Sydney J. Shaw and Gladys I. (Kingston) Shaw. He spent his youth going to school in Lynn, Mass. and summered at his family camp in Woolwich.
Sid honorably served his country as a communications specialist in the Massachusetts Army Reserves. After completing the GE Apprenticeship Program, he began a lifelong career as an electrical engineer. He moved to Maine in 1974 upon accepting a job with CMP where he worked until he retired in 2006.
Sid was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, camping and numerous winter activities. He also enjoyed gardening, working on projects around the house, and spending time by the water, especially at his family camp in Woolwich.
He married Patricia M. Walz on Nov. 10, 1979, at their home in Bowdoinham with close friends and family attending. They were blessed with two sons, Matthew and Adam. Sid was a loving husband and father and shared his passion of travel and the outdoors with his wife and sons.
You could always find Sid sitting on the back deck of his Bowdoinham home enjoying a “toddy” and a peaceful sunset while listening to the songs of birds overhead with his faithful Labrador retriever at his side.
Sid is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons Matthew and Adam, daughters-in-law, Melissa and Danielle; and four grandchildren, Sarah, Benjamin, Levi, and Riley.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister, Nancy.
Sid will especially be remembered for the love of his family and the outdoors, as well as his contagious sense of humor. He will be loved and missed always.
Family and friends will be invited to a Celebration of Life to be held later in the spring.
