Pernod “Pete” Duffey
BRUNSWICK – Pernod “Pete” Duffey passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, under the care of Beacon Hospice and The Landing at Cape Elizabeth.
He was born in Indiana, the son of Roy and Eula (Vanness) Duffey. Pete was a U.S. Navy veteran who served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Wasp from 1954 to 1958. He was later stationed in Brunswick, Maine, where he met his wife of 59 years, Dale (Bouchard) Duffey. Together, they raised their two daughters, Darlene (Duffey) Blas and Dina Duffey.
Pete began his lifelong barbering career as an apprentice under Victor “Pappy” Bouchard, his grandfather-in-law. He quickly took over the business in 1961, renaming it The Hair Shoppe, located at 57 Maine Street in Brunswick.
With his active lifestyle and desire to give back to the community, Pete ran several marathons to raise money for charity. His bright, engaging smile and warm personality will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters, Darlene Blais and Dina Duffey; and his three grandsons, Christopher Duffey, Nevin Duffey, and Matthew Blais.
