Mildred “Millie” E. (Watkins) Dingley

CASCO – Mildred “Millie” E. Watkins Dingley, 81, of Casco, died early Sunday morning, June 14, 2026, in the comfort of her home.

She was born on Dec. 11, 1944, in Casco, a daughter of Henry Perley Watkins Sr. and Caroline Mildred Hartford Watkins.

She attended local schools and went on to graduate from Fryeburg Academy.

Millie worked as a hairstylist for virtually her entire career. As a young woman in the 1970s, she worked at Coiffure Limited in Portland. She later operated her own home salon, Sukey’s Beauty Shop, serving clients from the mid-’70s through the early 2000s. In addition, she worked as a custodian for the Lake Region School District from 1996 into the early 2000s.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and Pondicherry Chapter #192.

Millie enjoyed riding horses, gardening, haying, attending country concerts, traveling, and spending time at the Fryeburg Fair, a tradition she cherished for many years. She also loved soaking up the warmth of summer at the beach. She loved it when the smelts ran in the Crooked River.

She is survived by her son, Raymond P. Dingley of Casco; a granddaughter, Reannah R. Dingley of Casco, a grandson, John Fountaine and his family of Casco; a sister, Martha E. Glassford known has “Betty” of Casco and her family; a brother, Henry Perley Watkins Jr. known has “Skip” of Casco; as well as several nieces, nephew; and great-grandson; and many friends.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Laurna Mildred Dingley in 2015; and her ex-husband, George Raymond Dingley in 2022.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 18 at the Hall Funeral Home in Casco. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday the 19 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at the Murch Cemetery in South Casco.
