William Thomas Walsh

BOSTON – William Thomas Walsh, “Bill”, 75, of Jupiter, Florida, formerly of South Portland, and Plaistow, New Hampshire, passed away on Wednesday July 8, 2026, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, with his loving family by his side.

Born in Portland, and raised in South Portland, Bill was the son of the late Joseph W. and Mary J. (Willwerth) Walsh, and was a graduate of South Portland High School, class of 1969. Bill continued his education after high school, earning an associate degree in science in Business Administration, from the University of Maine.

William “Bill” Walsh was a devoted husband, loving father, respected business leader, mentor, and man of faith whose life was marked by integrity, generosity, and service to others. He shared 47 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lillian, and took great pride in his family, instilling the values of hard work, humility, compassion, and faith in his children while supporting their education, athletics, and personal pursuits.

Bill built a distinguished career in the telecommunications industry, beginning as a New England telephone lineman and advancing into senior management leadership roles with AT&T, Lucent Technologies, and Avaya Communications. Widely respected for his character, leadership, and commitment to mentoring others, he left a lasting impact on colleagues and friends throughout his career.

Outside of work, Bill enjoyed boating and coastal living, especially along the shores of Maine and in Jupiter, Florida. He was also an enthusiastic admirer of British automobiles and an avid golfer who cherished time spent with family and friends.

A devoted Catholic, Bill was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Jude Council and served as a lector at Saint Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church. His legacy of love, faith, leadership, and devotion to family will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Bill will be sadly missed but forever in the heart of his cherished wife of almost 47 years, Lillian J. (Giglio) Walsh of Jupiter, Florida; treasured sons, Eric T. Quinney and his wife, Tiffany C. of Manchester, New Hampshire, Sean T. Walsh and his wife, Aimee M. of Plaistow, New Hampshire, and Patrick K. Walsh and his wife, Shayla J. of Sandown, New Hampshire; adoring daughter, Shelley L. Palmer of Derry, New Hampshire; admired brother, Joseph P. Walsh of South Portland; prized grandchildren, Taylor Quinney, Kaitlyn Quinney, and Eric Quinney, Jr., Cameron Palmer, Riley O’Brien, Gabriel Walsh, and Nathaniel Walsh; treasured great-grandchild, James Keen V.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill on Wednesday July 15, 2026, at 10 a.m., in St. Luke the Evangelist Parish at Holy Angels Church, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, New Hampshire. Burial for Bill will take place on Friday July 17, at 12 p.m., in the Calvary Cemetery, 1461 Broadway, South Portland.
