Caroline Vining

YARMOUTH – Caroline Vining, 76, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Caroline was born on Nov. 16, 1949, to Audrey Wilson and Clyde Crockett. She was lovingly adopted and raised in Yarmouth by her aunt and uncle, Ora and Frank Berry, who gave her a home filled with love, support, and family.

Caroline’s greatest joy was becoming a mother. She married Carle Dion, and together they welcomed their son, Aaron, on Oct. 19, 1970. Aaron remained the pride and joy of Caroline’s life. Although Caroline and Carle later divorced, they remained connected through their son and maintained a caring friendship. Caroline continued to be there for Carle throughout the years, and in 2005 she honored his memory by speaking at his funeral—a reflection of her compassionate heart and the kindness she extended to those who had been important in her life.

While working at Vining’s Market in Yarmouth, Caroline met Charles Vining, who would become the love of her life. Their friendship quickly blossomed into a lasting romance, and they were married on Nov. 14, 1981. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Over the next 44 years, Caroline stood faithfully by Charlie’s side, caring for him with endless love, a reflection of the deep commitment they shared throughout their marriage.

Caroline and Charlie enjoyed traveling the country in their motorhome, creating memories along the way, and looked forward each year to spending their winters in Florida. She loved a good book and always seemed to have another one, or several, waiting nearby. Caroline had a deep love for animals, especially cats, and held a special place in her heart for her turtle, Pokey. She treasured the countless conversations she shared with her beloved niece, Sandra Giggey, and her best friend of more than 50 years, Robin Ingalls. Whether talking about current events, family, or everyday life, those long chats brought her endless happiness and reflected a friendship that stood the test of time.

In 2019, Caroline proudly took on one of her favorite roles: “Nana.” Becoming a grandmother to Harrison filled her with joy, and she loved watching him grow and making memories together.

Caroline was predeceased by her birth parents, Audrey Wilson and Clyde Crockett; her adoptive parents, Ora and Frank Berry; and her siblings.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Charles Vining; her son, Aaron Dion, and daughter-in-law, Meredith Dion; her daughter, Kathy Wagner, and Kathy’s wife, Sam Wagner; her cherished grandson, Harrison Dion, and her granddaughter, Miranda Vining. She also leaves behind her niece, Sandra Giggey; her best friend, Robin Ingalls; and many extended family members and friends who will miss her kindness, generosity, and unmistakably caring nature.

Caroline’s greatest treasures were the people she loved, the quiet moments she enjoyed, a good book, her pets, and the adventures she shared with Charlie. Her family will remember her generous heart, steady presence, and the love she gave so freely. Her kindness, compassion, and devotion will continue to live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
