Fire destroyed a barn and seriously damaged a home at 859 Chadbourne Road in Standish on Sunday afternoon, displacing a family and killing two pets.

The fire was reported shortly after 2 p.m. The road was closed to traffic until 6:18 p.m.

The cause is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office, but it appeared to be accidental, Deputy Fire Chief Aaron Riley said in a written statement.

Firefighters from Buxton, Limington, Hollis, Gorham, Raymond, Windham and Sebago assisted. No firefighters were injured.

The American Red Cross helped the family find temporary accommodations.
