Veterans group holds event to dispose of old U.S. flags
Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1044 will hold a flag-retirement ceremony at 1 p.m. Thursday at the American Legion Post Home No. 26, 508 Elm St.
The ceremony will properly dispose of numerous U.S. flags that are no longer in a proper condition to be flown or displayed, and that have been donated by local businesses, civic groups or individuals.
The public is invited to attend.

Ex-CIA operations officer will give talk on its future
“The CIA in the Coming Decade: Troubled Water Ahead?” will be the topic of the Association of Former Intelligence Officers’ final talk of the season at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Brick Store Museum Program Center, 4 Dane St.
Rollie Flynn, a retired operations officer and senior executive with the CIA, will examine past and future missions of the intelligence agency. Flynn’s presentation will explore the evolution of the CIA from its inception in 1947 through the 9/11 attacks and the creation of the Directorate of National Intelligence.
