SOUTH PORTLAND — The Maine Fire Service Institute at Southern Maine Community College will receive a nearly $435,000 federal grant to purchase a live-fire training trailer.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant was announced in a press release Wednesday by U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine.
Jim Graves, Maine Fire Service Institute deputy director, said the trailer can simulate a variety of “live-fire scenarios and offers a number of training aspects, including ladder placement, ventilation, search and rescue, and confined spaces.”
