BRUNSWICK — Priscilla G. Belanger, 91, of Brunswick died Oct. 12, at Mid Coast Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born in Brunswick March 21, 1922, a daughter of Edouard and Alfreda Martin Bernier. She attended St. John’s School, graduating in 1934, and then graduated from Brunswick High School in 1938.

On May 3, 1941, she married Raoul L. Belanger and they made their home in Brunswick.

Belanger worked at Grant’s Department Store, Gosselin’s Furniture Store, Dave’s Taylor Shop and Bernier’s Lumber Shop. She also worked for 30 years at Bowdoin College’s business office, where she became bursar and retired in 1985.

She volunteered at Mid Coast Hospital for many years, and was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where she was a eucharistic minister. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Kennebec Art Club, and the Merry Meeting Art Association.

Her interest in painting began after she retired, and many of her works were sold at art shows and exhibits. She worked in both watercolors and oils and received her schooling at the Brunswick Recreation Center in 1977 and Bailey Night School in 1978. She also studied with John Vote, Shirley Carpenter, Loretta Varney and and Calvin Taylor.

Belanger was an accomplished clothing maker, a follower of current events and an avid traveler, having visited many states and other countries. She always relished visits with family and friends, especially during the holidays.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be remembered for her honesty, integrity, faith, cheerfulness and attention to detail. She said if she ever had it to do over again she would be a carpenter and get a college education.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raoul, who died Oct. 30, 1989; sister, Rhea Pelkey; and seven brothers, Andre, Remi, Armand, Robert, Evariste, Edward and Henry Bernier.

She is survived by a daughter, Pauline Beaudoin and husband Phil; son, David Belanger and wife Dorothy; sister, Constance Elia; brother, Antoine Bernier; step-brother, Dana Storer; five grandchildren, Brigitte Kirk, Benjamin Beaudoin, Angelique Carlson, Shannon DeVaul and Andrew Belanger; nine great-grandchildren, Maxwell Kirk, Chasen Kirk, Shane Kirk, Madeline Kirk, Luke Beaudoin, Adam Beaudoin, Gabrielle Carlson, Liam Carlson and Teagan DeVaul; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held Oct. 16 at Demers-Desmond Funeral Home, Brunswick. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday at All Saints Parish, St. John the Baptist Church. Burial followed at St. John’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s School Scholarship Fund, 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick.
