BRUNSWICK — Charlene Hite, 66, died Feb. 28 at Mid Coast Hospital.

She was born in Bath on Dec. 22, 1945, to of Charles and Madelene DeLong. She grew up in Woolwich and graduated from Morse High School.

In 1962 she married her first husband, Robert Hutchins Sr. In 1989 she married her second husband, Joseph S. Small who passed away in 1997. In 2001 she married her third husband, Michael J. Hite.

She worked for many years as a waitress and bartender. She also worked for nine years as the dispatcher for the Bath Police Department. She was a chief steward/manager at the Elks Lodge for 14 years.

Hite loved reading, cooking, crafting, crocheting and NASCAR.

She was a member of the Brunswick Emblem Club #323, American Legion Post #202, Topsham and VFW Clewiston, Fla.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Small and brother, William F. Stinson.

Hite is survived by her children Robert Hutchins Jr. of Brunswick, Mark Hutchins of Brunswick, Laurie Durkee and her husband Richard of Brunswick, katherine Robinson of Brunswick and Michelle Small of Bath; sister, Sherrie DeLong of Yarmouth; grandchildren Lindsey Rideout, Grady Hutchins, Jordan Hutchins, Noah Hutchins, Erik Robinson Jr., Heather Durkee, Amanda Durkee, Tyler Durkee and Shane Durkee.

There will be no funeral services at her request. Her remains will be scattered in the ocean in the spring and a memorial service will be held at that time.
