TOPSHAM — Bernard “Fred” Frederick Theriault, 85, died on Feb. 24 at Mid Coast Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born in Old Town on Aug. 8, 1926, the son of Frederick and Addie Theriault.

At the age of only 16 he entered the U.S. Army Air Force and proudly served his country. In 1946, he was discharged and he returned home to Old Town, going to work as a weaver in the Woolen Mill.

He met his first wife, Anita Cote (she died in 2002), and the couple was married in 1950. After they married they started their family and moved to Bath where he was employed by Bath Iron Works, retiring after 29 years.

On June 10, 2006, he married Venise Beaulieu and they lived in Topsham.

Theriault loved life and was a nature enthusiast; he loved fishing, hunting and taking long walks with Venise. After his retirement he wanted to see the country and traveled a lot. When he was home he loved to play card games and one of his favorite past times, dominoes.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Celestine Marquis and Bessy Moreau, and a brother, Herman Theriault. He is survived by his wife, Venise, of Topsham; sons Thomas Theriault and his wife, Danuta, of Wiscasset, John Theriault and his wife, Dorothy, of Harpswell and Robert Theriault and his wife, Lucia, of Kary, N.C.; stepdaughter JoAnn Tonn and her husband, Jeff, of Harpswell; sister Edna Cyr of Old Town; 11 grandchildren, Megan Rines, Andrew Theriault, Christine Theriault, Ryan Theriault, Chad Theriault, David Theriault, John Theriault, Venise Deming, Victoria Stack, Elizabeth Hull and Jeffrey Tonn; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Feb. 28 at All Saints Parish, St. Charles Church. Burial took place at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
