On Saturday, Oct. 24, people all over the world will be working to raise awareness about climate change and to communicate to our leaders that we need strong action to lower carbon emissions and transition to a non-fossil fuel based economy. There will be events in places as far apart as Falmouth and Suva, Fiji, and hundreds of places in between. The events are often called “350” events – a number associated with the safe upper limit of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. .
In Falmouth, one 350 event will include an effort to gather 350 pairs of gently worn footwear for Maine families in need. It’s called “Bring a Sole, Take A Stand!” To participate, you may bring your gently worn footwear (all sizes) to Lamey Wellehan at the Falmouth Shopping Center on Route 1. With the help of The Good Shepherd Foodbank and the United Way, the footwear we collect will be distributed among families in need.
Please join us in this effort to make a difference.
