Bowdoin College fall sports teams were busy last weekend. Football opened its year with a dramatic 50-35 come-from-behind victory over Middlebury, behind 374 passing yards and four TDs from quarterback Oliver Kell. Kell and wide receiver Pat Noone (12 receptions, 180 yards, two scores) were named NESCAC Co-Athletes of the Week for their efforts.
The Polar Bears two-time defending national champion field hockey team wasn’t as fortunate. Despite the efforts of Shavonne Lord, Bowdoin lost 2-0 to Middlebury, its first loss to the Panthers in nine meetings. Bowdoin is now 2-2 (1-2 NESCAC) on the season. Elsewhere, men’s soccer enjoyed a 1-0 victory over Middlebury. The women’s soccer team lost 2-0 to Middlebury.
