NEW FACES
• Allison Clair joined Winxnet as a sales representative. Clair has more than two years of sales and marketing experience. Most recently, she worked as a social media specialist and outside sales representative for Gulbenkian Swim Inc.
• Melissa Reynolds O’Dea and Ben Tucker joined Lipman & Katz.
O’Dea, a former Maine assistant attorney general, joined the firm as a partner. She was previously a partner in O’Dea Woodman in Augusta.
Tucker joined the firm as an associate. He was previously an attorney with Stinson Avery Lawson-Stopps in Bath.
• Bruce Harrington joined Skowhegan Savings as a commercial loan officer. Harrington, of Fairfield, has several years of experience in commercial banking. He is an adjunct professor of finance at Thomas College in Waterville. Most recently, he worked at the Bank of Maine.
• Sarah Hall joined the faculty at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor to teach geology. Hall has a doctorate in earth and planetary sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She has been an assistant professor at McGill University in Montreal since 2009.
• Justin Holmes joined Combined Benefits United in Hallowell as a benefits adviser. Holmes, of Hallowell, has several years of experience in economic development, most recently with the Eaton Peabody Consulting Group in Bangor.
PROMOTIONS
• Judy Morin was named chief executive officer of Ocean Communities Federal Credit Union. Morin, of Saco, had served as the vice president of financial services for the credit union since 1986.
• Hugh Redford was named operations coordinator at iBec Creative. Redford, of Portland, will deal with internal and business operations, assisting with the overall growth and management of iBec.
AWARDS and RECOGNITION
• Three people who work for WBRC Architects/Engineers – Lura Wade, Andy Rudnicki and Luke Chiavelli – recently earned advanced designations.
Wade and Rudnicki, members of the engineering department at WBRC, earned their professional engineer licenses.
Chiavelli, another engineer on their team, is now certified in plumbing design.
All three have also earned the designation of LEED Accredited Professional.
Wade is an electrical engineer with six years of experience at WBRC in lighting power and systems designs.
Rudnicki is a mechanical engineer with more than six years experience at WBRC in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system design.
Chiavelli is a mechanical designer with more than 10 years of experience at WBRC in its mechanical, plumbing and electrical department.
• Sue Lambert, director of business and finance for School Administrative District 49 in Fairfield and the surrounding towns, was recently awarded the David Holden award by her peers, recognizing her as the outstanding school business official for 2011–12.
• Berlin City Automotive received a transportation safety champion award by The Maine Transportation Safety Coalition. Berlin City was recognized for helping to increase awareness of the issue of distracted driving.
• Dick Morrell of Downeast Energy was recognized as a “Legend of Oil Heat” by the New England Fuel Institute. Morrell is a longtime Brunswick resident and a graduate of Bowdoin College.
• Fred Huntress Jr. of Poland received the New England Forestry Foundation’s Award of the Year. He was recognized for his excellence in forest conservation, stewardship, and sustainable management. He was hired by the New England Forestry Foundation in February 1958 and has been affiliated with the organization for more than 50 years.
BOARD APPOINTMENTS
• Katherine Coster recently joined the board of directors for Gorham Savings Bank. Coster, of Falmouth, has several years of experience in the banking industry, with Bank of New England, Security Pacific Bank and Bankers Trust Co.
• Arthur Blank, president and CEO of Mount Desert Island Hospital in Bar Harbor, was appointed chair of the board of directors for the Maine Hospital Association.
Blank has been CEO at MDI Hospital since 1999.
Joining the board as at-large members are R. David Frum, president of Bridgton and Rumford hospitals; Charlie Therrien, president and CEO of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital; and William Caron, president and CEO of MaineHealth.
Eileen Skinner, president and CEO of Mercy Hospital, will be chairwoman of the association’s public policy council. Steve Diaz, chief medical officer at MaineGeneral Medical Center, will be chairman of the quality council.
Dianne Swandal, vice president of patient care at St. Joseph Hospital, will be the OMNE Nursing Leaders of Maine representative.
GENERAL
• Vreeland Marketing & Design of Yarmouth and Rising Tide PR of South Portland were hired to launch a public relations and social media campaign for the Maine Appalachian Trail Club. The agencies were awarded the contract in June to promote the mission of this all-volunteer nonprofit.
• Tracy Harding was named to the new strategic planning task force of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Harding is BerryDunn’s director of quality assurance and principal-in-charge at the Bangor office. He joined the firm in 1984.
