The Town Office in Durham hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Wednesday closed and Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. For more information, call 353-2561.

CEO available

The town’s codes enforcement officer will be available from 5-7 p.m. on Oct. 23 and 30, at the Town Office. There are no hours on Oct. 16 for the Columbus Day holiday

Crafters wanted

The Durham PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is having its third annual craft fair on Nov. 16, from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. Tables are $20 if payment is received by Nov. 1. All tables purchased after Nov. 1 are $25. For more information, contact Laurel Gervais at [email protected], or call 522-1919.

Halloween party to benefit AMVET post

Durham is hosting a Halloween Harvest Moon Halloween Party to benefit the AMVET Post on Friday, Oct. 18, from 8 p.m.-midnight. Bring a carved pumpkin and enter in the contest for “Best Pumpkin.” Munchies will be provided and non-alcoholic beverages will be for sale. This is a party for over 21 only. There will be an attendant at the door asking for ID for those whose age is in question. Alcohol is welcome, however, BYOB. Advance tickets are $6 per person or $10 a couple. Tickets at the door are $10 per person and $14 per couple. There will be a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds raised will be donated to the AMVETS to help them stay open during the winter months and continue to offer their facility to residents. This is a party created by donations from local sponsors.

Heaven’s Blend sets benefit concert

A concert by Heaven’s Blend will be held Saturday, October 27, at 7 p.m., at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Route 196, Lisbon Falls. Free-will offering, and non-perishables will be accepted. Proceeds benefit the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach Food Pantry/Clothing Bank.

For rentals at the Eureka Center, contact Nancy Decker at 751-1323. She is now in charge of the Eureka Center scheduling and rentals.

More classes at community center

The Durham Eureka Community Center, corner of Route 9 and Route 136, will be hosting cribbage every Tuesday from 8-11 a.m. at the Eureka Center. Coffee and light refreshments will be available.

Other events scheduled include a six-week series of gentle yoga led by Moriah Salter, founder of Healing Earth Yoga. In these slow-movement, beginner-friendly classes, students learn the basics of yoga through flowing sequences of foundational and restorative poses with a focus on alignment, breathing techniques and guided relations. Bring a yoga mat and water bottle to each session. The class , which started Tuesday, is from 4-5:15 p.m. Fee is $50. Register at the Durham Town Office. For more information, call 353-2561.

Couponing for the Community meets every other Tuesday (next session Oct. 22) from 6:30-8:30 p.m. No cost. Learn the basics including where/how to find and collect coupons; how to organize them in a way that works best for you; and how to begin using them. Pat Provost heads this community project with the hopes that some of the skills acquired will be used to give back to the community by helping families in need.

Walk to benefit church, heat fund

The First Congregational Church is hosting Warm Winter Walk 2, Sunday, Oct. 20, starting at 1 p.m. at the church, 773 Royalsborough Road, South Durham. Proceeds from the 5.3-mile walk will be evenly divided between the church and Durham Heating Assistance. Participants are encouraged to get pledges from family and friends. Bikes and strollers are welcome. Water and snacks will be provided by the “Blister Patrol.” Refreshments will be provided at the end at 1289 Royalsborough Road (outside). Food pantry open Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday

Lisbon Area Christian Outreach serves the towns of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon Falls.

The hours are Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m.-noon and Saturday 8-10 a.m. The Food Pantry is located at the Marion T. Morse School on School Street. The parking lot for the food pantry is behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church off Berry Avenue. In addition to the food pantry there is a free clothing bank.
