A weekly look at our communities through photos.

Durham Fire Chief Bill St. Michel sticks his arm through a rust hole of Engine 3, which the fire department hopes to replace with a used combination ladder truck and pumper. Engine 3, purchased new by the town in 1984, was originally assigned to structural responses but it is now primarily utilized as a fill engine, backup to forestry, utility, or a backup to the front line engines. Engine 3 can no longer be listed as first response for structural calls due to pump wear, St. Michel said. Residents will decide on a new fire truck and many other issues when they gather at 9 a.m. Saturday for the annual town meeting, at Durham Consolidated School.  A flock of flamingos greets people headed into the Freeport Town Hall. The Freeport High School class of 2015 is using the flock as a fundraiser. People can pay to send a flock to a friend’s yard in Regional School Unit 5 territory and then let the friend pass the flock on. Flamingos will roost on a lawn for a day until they will migrate to another lawn, according to the pitch being made by the class. Those interested can pick up a form in the high school office.
