Kate E. R. Russel, a 2002 graduate of Scarborough High School, was named to the dean’s list at Bates College for her academic achievement in the first semester of the year.

Russell, a senior, is the daughter of Ben and Nancy Russell of Orchard Hill Road. She is majoring in biochemistry and is a member of the Bates women’s swimming and diving team.

Russell spent the fall of 2004 at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia, and was awarded a 2005 Summer Research Grant to study aspects of the development of respiratory control.
