SEBAGO – At about 10 a.m. Sunday morning. Aug. 25, a Naples man was impaled by a small tree when he was ejected from his dirt bike in the town of Sebago.
According to the Maine Warden Service, the accident occurred in the vicinity of 575 Hancock Pond Road on the narrow gauge railroad ATV trail system. Injured was Scott Killton, 32, of Naples. He was riding his Yamaha dirt bike with four other friends, who were also on dirt bikes.
While riding, Killton struck a small stump in the trail and was ejected, according to Corporal John MacDonald, warden service spokesman. Killton landed on a small 1-inch wooden stick and it became impaled in his lower back/abdomen. He was treated at the scene by Sebago EMS and transported by LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
MacDonald said all riders were in compliance and riding with full safety gear including helmets. No prosecution is expected in this incident, he added.
