Stolen boats

On July 7, two kayaks were reported stolen from a Fowler Road residence. The kayaks, 17-foot Perception brand, one red and one yellow were valued at $1,500.

Grafitti

On July 7, a business at Village Crossing reported that vulgar grafitti was sprayed on their fence.

Smashing pursuit

On July 10 at about 7:45 p.m., a resident of the Old Ocean House Road area reported a mailbox had been smashed. The resident reported witnessing an SUV vandalizing their mailbox. The resident pursued the vehicle in a chase but lost them.

Bitten

On July 11 at about 4:20 p.m., a volunteer on Cape’s rescue squad was bitten by a dog when responding to a rescue call in the Mitchell Road area. The dog is current in its vaccinations.

Beach vandals

On July 12, it was reported that the lifeguard towers at Crescent Beach State Park were pushed over on their sides. The damage is estimated at $200.

Lost and Found

On July 12, police found a gray Raleigh bike along the marsh off of Starboard Drive. It is being held at the station. On the same day, a ranger found a flip cell phone in a black carrying case near Portland Head Light. It is being held at the station.

Once bitten

On July 15 at about 9:30 a.m., a Scarborough resident was bitten by a dog from South Portland while at Gull Crest Trails. Animal Control confirmed the vaccinations and issued a quarantine notice.

Charge!

On July 15, two large lab dogs ran straight through the zap of the electric fence keeping them on their property and charged a man walking his dogs in the Mitchell Road area. Nobody, man or dog, was injured, and the dogs were later returned to their home.

No mail today

On July 15, two Old Ocean House Road area residents reported their mailboxes were smashed up during the night.

Arrests

July 11

Julia Dunfey, 22, of 30 Broad Cove Road, was arrested on Ocean House Road and charged with operating under the influence.

July 14

Jonathan Lewie, 24, of 14 Eastman Road, was arrested on Spurwink Avenue and charged with operating under the influence.

July 16

Alexander Tumidajski, 21, of 3 Sweet Fern Road, was arrested on Scott Dyer Road and charged with operating under the influence.

Summonses

July 13

Virginia Weile, 21, of 37 Broad Cove Road, was issued a summons on Route 77 for speeding 45 in a 35 mph zone.

July 14

Virginia Weile, 21, of 37 Broad Cove Road, was issued a summons on Route 77 for speeding 48 in a 35 mph zone.

Amanda Leighton, 18, of 22 Willow Lane, Cumberland was issued a summons on Scott Dyer Road for speeding 34 in a 25 mph zone.

Emily Divney, 23, of Roosevelt Lane, Windham, was issued a summons on Scott Dyer Road for an unregistered vehicle.

July 16

Margaret Eddy, 20, of Reynolds Road, South Portland, was issued a summons on Route 77 for an unregistered vehicle.

July 12

A boy, 17, from Cape Elizabeth was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.

July 13

A boy, 17, from South Portland, was issued a summons on Shore Road for speeding 44 in a 30 mph zone.

July 15

A boy, 17, from South Portland was issued a summons on Shore Road for speeding 51 in a 30 mph zone.

Fire and Rescue

The Cape Rescue squad responded to 14 calls between July 11 and July 17. Nine patients were transported to Maine Medical Center and five were transported to Mercy Hospital.

The Cape Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on Ocean House Road at 1:30 p.m. on July 11; an alarm on McKenney Point Road at 1:42 p.m. on July 11; an odor investigation on Todd Road at 5:58 p.m. on July 12; a fire alarm on Windward Way at 11:15 a.m. on July 14.
