Daryl and Christine Morrell and family, formerly of Windham, now of Spring Hill, Fla. recently spent a week here. While here they visited with many family members.
Officers
The newly elected officers of the Smith Cemetery Association are as follows: President Robert Hawkes; Vice President George Hall; Secretary Josie Morrell and Treasurer June Hawkes. The trustees for the year are: Florece Hawkes, Carlene Brown, Elsie Haskell, Marilyn Worrey and Betty Strout. Their next meeting will be at the Windham Public Library April 25, 2007 at 6:30 p.m..
Library
You only have until Oct. 31 to view the works by artist Frank Gruber on display at the Windham Public Library. He studied and worked closely with his father, an accomplished illustrator and graduate of New York’s Art Students League. Gruber recently produced a one-artist show at the University of Southern Maine’s Glickman Library. The charcoal and Gouache works being exhibited at the Windham Public Library are from that one-artist show called “Cowboys and Indians: The myth and Reality of the 19th Century American West.”
Meeting
The Rebekah Lodge No. 71 will meet Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. in the Odd Fellows Hall. This will be a regular meeting with Brenda Collett in charge of the program and Elsie Haskell and Rita Carey in charge of refreshments.
Holiday Fair
There will be a Holiday Fair at New Marblehead Manor, Sandbar Road, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m until 1 p.m. They will have handmade mittens, candy, baked goods and a white elephant table.
Reception
Go and meet your regional candidates and enjoy an art exhibit on the Iraq War at the same time. Featuring oil paintings by D. Borelli, Friday Nov. 3 at the Windham Public Library from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The public is welcome.
Meeting
The Windham Health Council will meet Nov. 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Freda Scott. Refreshments will be served and anyone is welcome to attend.
Supper
There will be a public bean supper Nov. 4 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Windham Hill Church. The menu includes; Hot dogs, three varieties of beans, potato salad, tossed salad, macaroni and cheese, brown bead and biscuits, homemade pies, coffee, tea and punch. The donation is $6 for adults and $2.50 for children 12 and under.
Christmas Fair
New Marblehead Manor, Sandbar Road, will hold their Christmas Fair Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. They will have handmade items, mittens, candy, baked goods and a white elephant table.
