Coastal Wellness Family Chiropractic, opened in April 2007 in Cape Elizabeth by Dr. Janel Voelker, has expanded to include massage therapy, acupuncture and counseling services .
“The purpose of the wellness center is to help our patients get better faster and to stay better longer by getting to the cause of the problem,” said Voekler in a press release. “I have searched out professionals who can help in this process, and maintain our high standards of personal attention for our patients.”
Colleen Monroe, a licensed massage therapist, incorporates neuromuscular, deep-tissue therapeutic massage, Swedish massage, sports massage and LaStone therapy in her work.
Martha J. Barry, who holds a doctorate in counseling psychology, offers psychotherapy and counseling support for anxiety, depression, stress-related health problems and coping with chronic or life-threatening illness. She utilizes mind-body approaches such as clinical hypnosis and several mindfulness-based practices including meditation, yoga and writing. She also offers her services as a life coach.
Marianne Berube, a licensed social worker, provides short- and long-term individual, couples and family therapy for anxiety, trauma, depression, grief counseling, sexual abuse and facilitation of family communication and problem solving.
Lynn MacDonald, a licensed acupuncturist, helps individuals with a variety of issues involving acute pain, chronic pain, addiction, women’s health and emotional problems. Organic issues involving the digestive, respiratory, reproductive, musculoskeletal systems can also be helped through acupuncture.
