There weren’t many places louder than Westbrook’s Davan Pool over the weekend, as the Blue Blazes hosted the north section of the Southwestern swimming and diving championships.
Well more than 100 athletes and their fans packed the facility for both the boys meet (Friday) and the girls (Saturday), and the place was roaring.
Scarborough won both competitions, topping Cape Elizabeth by 28 points in the boys meet and by 12 in the girls meet.
Westbrook’s boys had some excellent individual performances, with Jake Wilson winning the 500 freestyle and taking third in the 200 individual medley.
In addition, Matt Violette was second in the boys 200 freestyle and third in the 100 butterfly. The Blazes 400 freestyle relay team – featuring Wilson, Violette, Kalin Lancaster and Kyle Goan – also grabbed a second place.
