For the first year since 2000, no new infestations of invasive aquatic plants were discovered in 2005, David Littell (above), commissioner of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, announced last Friday at the seventh annual Maine Milfoil Summit. A record was set for statewide courtesy boat inspections in 2005 and the inspections paid off – at least four invasive plants were stopped from entering Maine waters last year, including Sebago Lake, Rangeley Lake, Unity Pond and Woodbury Pond.
