Due to state budget decreases this past year, many areas of state government have seen changes.

One of these is the office of Maine Veterans’ Services. Each office in the state was directed to cut the travel to “itinerate” offices by half and limit other travel (house calls) to emergencies only.

For Windham and the local area, this means that Veterans’ Advocate Robin Shepard will be at the Windham Veterans Center once a month instead of twice.

He will help veterans and their families and dependents with any kind of information and service related to benefits or claims; Shepard will be at the Vets Center (behind Windham Mall) on the second Wednesday each month from 9 to 11 a.m. However he will stay as long as necessary so that anyone who comes in will be seen. He averages three or four visits each time he comes to Windham.
