Democrat Cynthia Dill took a narrow victory over Republican Jennifer Duddy in the race for the District 121 House seat.
Dill received 2,432 votes, and Duddy received 2,256.
“I would like to say ‘thank you very much’ to the residents of Cape Elizabeth, and I look forward to serving them in Augusta,” Dill said late Tuesday night. She also thanked Duddy for an excellent campaign.
It was, however, a close race. Tuesday evening at the polls, some Cape residents had expressed support for Duddy.
“I think she’s a fresh voice,” said Rosemarie Townsend of Brentwood Road, Cape Elizabeth, explaining why she voted for Duddy. She is a fiscal conservative and will cut taxes and help create jobs, said Townsend.
