I thought Steve Whiting did a nice job in the Opinion section of the Current’s October 27 issue of pointing out that under current law homosexuals are not being discriminated against, but how a no vote on the November 8th Referendum Question 1 could threaten some basic freedoms we currently take for granted. What confused me was the headline “Reject Gay Rights – Again.”

Who chose this misleading headline? Mr. Whiting? I hope not. But since I was told that he did, let me say that it seems obvious that the responsibility of any newspaper’s editorial staff is to make sure a headline accurately reflects the information in an article, rather than the opposite.
