On April 3, police met with a resident of the Shore Road area who reported a motor vehicle burglary that occurred while at a friend’s house on Fowler Road. Taken from the vehicle were a wallet, cell phone, and a bag of grocery items.

On April 5 at about 3:10 p.m., police met with a resident of the Fowler Road area regarding a motor vehicle burglary that had occurred during the night. Taken were a Yankees baseball cap, a carton of cigarettes and two pairs of sunglasses.

On April 5 at about 4 p.m. police met with a resident of the Brentwood area regarding a motor vehicle burglary. Taken from the vehicle were a wallet, an iPod and prescription medication.

On April 5 at about 7 p.m., police met with a resident of the Fowler Road area who reported a motor vehicle burglary that occurred sometime during the night. Taken from the vehicle were an iPod and a pair of sunglasses.

On April 7 at about 12:04 p.m. police met with a resident of the Two Lights Road area regarding a burglary. Someone had entered the residence and stolen prescription pain medication.

On April 9 at about 9 a.m. police met with a resident of the Ocean House Road area regarding a fraud complaint. The resident reported that on April 8 she received a telephone call at her home from a woman identifying herself as her daughter-in-law. The caller said she took a trip to Canada and was being detained at the Canada/United States border by the Border Patrol. She went on to say that she had insufficient funds to pay for items she had purchased in Montreal. The caller told the complainant that a “guard” would call her shortly with instructions on how to handle this. The complainant stated that the caller sounded like her daughter-in-law. Approximately 15 minutes later, a male identifying himself as a Border Patrol agent called and instructed the woman to wire $2,500 to Montreal to ensure costs were covered. The woman wired the money and later learned that her daughter-in-law had not traveled to Canada. The case remains under investigation.

Rabid racoon

On April 9 at approximately 5:28 p.m. police responded to the Spurwink Avenue area regarding a raccoon that had scratched and bitten the caller’s dog. The complainant had located and killed the raccoon. The owner was issued quarantine paperwork for the dog and the raccoon was sent to the state lab, where it tested positive for rabies.

Gone missing 1

On April 10 police spoke to a resident of the Mitchell Road area regarding missing jewelry and prescription medication. A possible suspect has been identified. The case is under investigation.

Gone missing 2

On April 11, police met with a resident of the Mitchell Road area regarding the theft of a wallet. The wallet contained some money and gift cards.

iPod found

On April 11, police met with a resident of the Scott Dyer Road area who had found an iPod on the sidewalk in front of the police station and turned it in.

Fire and Rescue

Between April 8 and April 13, police transported three people to Maine Medical Center.

On April 8 at about 9:09 a.m., the fire department provided mutual aid in South Portland.

On April 9 at about 4:56 p.m., the fire department responded to a structure fire on Ocean House Road.

On April 11 at 4:27 a.m., the fire department provided mutual aid in Portland.
