When Dan DeCosta bought Lilley’s Limousine, he wanted to provide the best service possible with state-of-the-art equipment. This month, DaCosta has gone even further to upgrade his vehicles for the convenience of the costumers – he’s added Internet service to all of his corporate cars.

Now, professionals hopping on a flight in Manchester or heading to a conference in Augusta can not only catch up on business by making making phone calls and shuffling papers, they can also work on their computers, and at the same speed they do in their offices.

Lilley’s, operating since 1988, claims to be Maine’s longest running limo service – and also the first to offer wireless Internet access through a cellular router. The unit is permanantly mounted to each car and is engineered to maintain a broadband- speed Internet connection while in a moving vehicle. The mobile router provides an always-on connection, similar to cable or DSL, and allows multiple devices to be online at the same time.

DeCosta, who has owned the company since 2004, has a fleet of 10 cars, five of which provide free Internet service. The other five are limousines that are used more for parties and proms than business trips. Though DeCosta expects his business might pick up do to the addition of wireless Internet to his vehicles, he had the needs of his current costumers in mind when making the upgrade. From what he hears, they’re extremely satisfied.

“I’ve definitely seen the buzz,” DeCosta said of the positive feedback both he and his drivers have received since adding Internet access to their sedans and SUVs.

DeCosta counts Fairchild Semiconductor, TD Banknorth, and L.L. Bean among his big corporate customers, some of which have ridden with the company for over a decade. The company’s Web site also boasts of past celebrity clients, such as Bill Cosby, Martha Stewart, Reba McEntire and Curt Schilling.

Lilley’s Limousine is located at 275 Gorham Road, Scarborough. For more information visit www.lilleyslimousine.com.
