Registered race entrants can check in and pick up their numbers, timing chips and T-shirts at the Cape Elizabeth Middle School cafetorium on Thursday, Aug. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 5, from 2 to 8 p.m.

Take a one-hour elite athlete clinic with Joan Benoit Samuelson and other top racers on Friday, Aug. 5, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Cape Elizabeth High School.

Carbo-load for the race with a Hannaford-sponsored pasta party at Cape Elizabeth High School on Friday, Aug. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. Tickets cost $8 and will be on sale at the check-in tables at the middle school. (Also during check-in, you can buy tickets to the Fuddruckers post-race barbecue.)

Runners can be dropped off at the Gull Crest fields on Spurwink Avenue. Start-line parking for runners will be at the Sprague fields, on Fowler Road and Ram Island Farm Road. There is no parking for runners at the finish. At the end of the race, shuttle buses will return runners to the parking areas. There is a limited amount of spectator parking at Fort Williams, and spaces must be occupied before 7:30 a.m.

Parking spaces will also be available at the Cape Elizabeth school complex. Runners will be shuttled from the middle school to the starting line between 6 and 7:30 a.m., and then back to the middle school at the end of the race.

The race begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. Wheelchair racers will lead off at exactly 8 a.m., with the open race starting five minutes later. The Kids’ 1K Fun Run will start at 9:15 a.m. at Fort Williams Park. The race awards ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the top of the flagpole hill in Fort Williams Park.

Several major roads will be closed on Saturday, Aug. 6, to allow the race to take place:

-Route 77 will be closed from Sprague Hall to Kettle Cove Road from 6 to 10 a.m., from Kettle Cove Road to Old Ocean House Road from 7:30 to 10 a.m., and from Hill Way to Old Ocean House Road from 7:30 to 10 a.m.

-Crescent Beach State Park will be closed from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.

-Old Ocean House Road will be closed entirely from 7:30 to 10 a.m.

-Shore Road from Key Bank to the Cape Cottage Post Office will be closed from 7:30 to 11 a.m.

-Fowler Road will be closed entirely (except for shuttle buses) from 7:15 to 10 a.m.
