DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) police officers from around the world participated in the 2008 International DARE Officers Conference, celebrating DARE’s 25th anniversary, Aug. 12 in San Antonio, Texas. For a community service project in the host community, officers chose to help with the Fisher House at Lackland Air Force Base, spending most of the day cleaning up in and around the facility. The Fisher House is a home-away-from-home for the families of seriously ill or injured servicemen, and at many times will house children of the military members. The DARE Officers Associations of Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire purchased a Nintendo Wii with Guitar Hero 3 to be used by the families.
