A Kevin Sweeney supporter

2 min read

I have known Kevin Sweeney for more than a decade and in that time have known him as a neighbor, a friend and a public servant. Kevin is running for his fourth term on the Cape Elizabeth school board. Your vote for him will ensure that an experienced and committed advocate will continue to serve our children.

As co-chair of the Cape Community Coalition, a volunteer group of citizens working to support healthy choices for young people, Kevin worked tirelessly creating programs that facilitated dialogues among students, parents, teachers and the police department. He wrote and helped to get a bill passed by the state Legislature that made it possible for law enforcement to get help for those with problems of inhalant abuse. Kevin also volunteered for many years as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America.

In his role as a school board member, he has been a fierce advocate for all children regardless of their needs. Kevin recognizes the importance of adults in the life of a child, and supports all school staff, from bus drivers, custodians, school lunch personnel and office staff to classroom teachers, ed techs, substitute teachers, administrators and the superintendent. I have always known him to be ready to listen; in fact, to actively seek out feedback and information on the state of the environment in our schools. I have experienced this as a parent, as a community volunteer and as a member of the school staff.

I urge you to vote for Kevin and keep a voice of reason, experience and commitment working for our children and our town.
