Complaints

On Jan. 23 at about 8 a.m. I, Patrolman Dyer, met with a resident of the Ocean House Road area who had paid a contractor to do some work in September, but the work was still incomplete. The Lewiston contractor had not returned phone calls from the resident. I could not contact the contractor. A call to Lewiston Police Department showed no complaints filed against the contractor. Detective Fenton contacted the contractor who said he’d injured himself in a fall and could not work. He also said he had lost some employees.

He agreed to refund the money.

On 22 Jan. at about 10:50 p.m. I, Officer Thompson, responded to a car vs. deer accident on Two Lights Road. A routine license check on the operator indicated that Portland Police Department held an active warrant charging her with failure to appear for theft by unauthorized taking or transfer. Selina M. Dyer, 22, was arrested and transported to Cumberland County Jail.

On Jan. 24 at 9:50 p.m. Officer Dyer and I, Sergeant Kennedy, responded to a resident in the Shore Road area for a domestic disturbance. The altercation was verbal in nature between parent and child. We spoke with all parties involved and provided them with paperwork on Family Crisis Services.

On Jan. 22 at about 10:20 p.m. I, Officer Thompson, ran a check on a car parked at Kettle Cove after hours. Madeline Bagley, 18, of Vermont, was sitting in the car. I summoned her for operating without a license and Improper/false plates. The vehicle was towed.

On Jan. 23 at about 5:15 p.m. I, Patrolman Thompson, met with a resident of the Shore Road area regarding a complaint that someone had tried to obtain a credit card in his name. The person who attempted to get the credit card did so through Chase Visa/MasterCard. They had most of the information that was needed to obtain a card, but some of the information was incorrect, so Chase credit card company contacted the complainant to let him know of the fraudulent attempt to get the card. They informed him that they would stop the card, and be able to protect his account if he filed a report with them and the police.

On Jan. 27 I, Officer Gaudette, met with a resident of the Ocean House Road area regarding harassing phone calls. A teenage girl’s ex-boyfriend would not leave her alone. He was contacted and ordered to stop calling or face prosecution.

On Jan. 27 a resident of Fowler Road came to the police department and turned in a microphone she discovered in the area of Murray’s Pit on Fowler Road. The microphone has an attachment connected for stationary use. The microphone was found in a leather case. A representative from the high school was contacted but it did not appear to belong to the school.

On Jan. 30 at about 1:30 p.m. I, Captain Sinclair, met with a resident of the Brentwood East area regarding a motor vehicle burglary that occurred on Shore Road in the parking area at Robinson Woods. The window was smashed and taken from the GMC SUV was a blue Patagonia backpack type purse. Inside the purse was a black wallet, which contained about $23 and miscellaneous credit and identification cards..

Fire and Rescue

The Cape Elizabeth Rescue responded to six calls from Jan. 25 to Jan. 30. Three patients were transported to Mercy Hospital and three to Maine Medical Center.

The Cape Elizabeth Fire Department responded to a fire alarm activation on Salt Spray Lane at 5:49 p.m. on Jan. 26; a wire down on Wheeler Road at 7:45 a.m. on Jan. 27; a vehicle leaking gasoline on Lighthouse Point Road at 9:54 a.m. on Jan. 29; a gas smell on Cedar Ledge Road at 2:16 p.m. on Jan. 29; arching wires on Birch Knolls at 11:55 p.m. on Jan. 29.

Maxwell Gaffka, 18, of 42 Angell Ave. in South Portland, was summoned on Cottage Farms Road operating under the influence, illegal transportation of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal transportation of alcohol.

Alen Larson, 38, of 35 King Street Westbrook, was summoned on Route 77 for operating after suspension, operating under the influence and refusing to sign the summons.

Joel Balfour, 18, of 416 Mitchell Road, was summoned at his home for unlawful sexual touching.

Dillon Cyr-Hall, 21, of Crescent View Avenue, was arrested on Route 77 on charges of operating after suspension for operating under the influence.

Joel Balfour, 18, of 416 Mitchell Road was arrested at his home on charges of violating conditions of release and unlawful sexual touching.

Jan. 28
