FREEPORT – Fun will be the focal point of L.L. Bean KidsFest, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9, at various locations on the company’s Freeport campus.
But KidsFest will offer some instruction, as well, and something different. Knot tying and geocaching are on the agenda, and KidsFest also will include interactive yoga classes for the children and their parents.
“That will be kind of interesting,” L.L. Bean spokesman Mac McKeever said of the interactive yoga. “It’s a really fun mix.”
Spiral Tree Yoga & Wellness Studio of Portland will provide the interactive yoga classes, which will feature yoga poses, activities, songs and relaxation, from 1-2 p.m. at Discovery Park. Mats will be provided.
The festival is part of the L.L. Bean Summer in the Park series.
“We’re going to be offering a fantastic array of activities for kids of all ages,” McKeever said.
A kids’ clinic on knot tying takes places from 10 a.m.-noon at Discovery Patio, outside the Flagship Store.
“That’s instructional,” McKeever said. “There’s really something for everyone. It’s a really fun-filled, whimsical day of activities for kids.”
There will be entertainment, as well. The Kastaways Mascot Band, which combines music with zany ad-libs, will be on the Discovery Park Stage from 10:30-11:15 a.m.. Chris Ruggiero’s juggling and magic show takes the same stage at noon, and will entertain until 12:25 p.m. Norman NG and his Exciting Magic is on stage from 2-2:45. From 3:15-4, Walter Martin will get laughs from the little ones and their parents, as well.
