A traffic stop on Sunday afternoon in Auburn resulted in the arrest of the driver on drug trafficking charges.
Auburn Police Officer Bernice Westleigh stopped a rental vehicle on Washington Street for a traffic violation about 4 p.m. Sunday, and discovered 113 grams of crack cocaine and 237 grams of heroin hidden in the vehicle, with an estimated street value of $75,000.
The driver, Jean Valbrun, 25, of Lowell, Mass., was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated drug trafficking, a Class A felony. Valbrun is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn on $50,000 bail.
Valbrun was traveling with his two children, ages 1 and 9, at the time. The children were released to a family member.
Auburn police were assisted at the scene by Lewiston Police Department’s canine unit.
