Christy McKinnon has joined the reporting staff of the Current.

McKinnon, a 2005 graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a major in communication, served as the executive editor of the university’s newspaper, the Free Press from 2003 to 2004 and has also served as a staff writer, photographer, photo editor and arts editor.

A Saco native, she will be covering Cape Elizabeth and will share coverage of South Portland with the newspaper’s other news staff. She takes the place of Whit Richardson, who left to take a job with Mainebiz, a statewide business newspaper.
